Green Hope Rees-Austin, 1956 TB 28" M, From Lloyd Austin's Rainbow Offerings for 1956: "I am co-introducing this with originator George Nicholas Rees, author of several splendid iris poems I have used in this catalog. A light chartreuse self, soft olive veining at haft. Bright yellow beard. Apparently all who saw it in originator's garden wanted it. Visitors were impressed with the extent that it is saturated with green and remarked that it is greener than GREEN PASTURES. Mr. Rees, who lives in the Ozark Mts. of Missouri, says he has found it fully cold hardy, fertile both ways, so should be highly interesting to all breeding for greens. Bloomed heavily for me last November. May turn out to be a regular twice bloomer. Fragrant." |
