I. pallida
Lamarck, collected 1789

TB M B1M

One of the original species irises that todays bearded iris are descended from. Lovely, graceful blooms on tall stalks. Flowers are periwinkle blue lightly flushed pink, and have a wonderful 'grape' aroma. Very hardy and vigorous, and widely grown across the US and Europe.

Like other natural hybrids it is more a 'type' of iris than a specific clone, and there are several cultivars, varying in minor details, under this name.
