F. deep violet, tinted lavender at the edge and bronzed along the conspicuous orange, brown specked beard. The standards are reflexed and the falls are spreading, so that the form of the expanded bloom is flat, like that of the double Japanese varieties. Its irregular markings and widespread segments are distinctive."
