Peau Rouge
Cayeux, 1922

TB 36" M, From Quality Gardens catalog 1930: "Translated 'Red Skin'. S. coppery red very faintly shaded with violet. F. deep blood red, beard light brownish yellow. Unquestionably one of the reddest toned iris yet introduced. This iris is becoming enourmously popular."

From Robert Wayman 1932 catalog: "This variety introduced a new, distinctive and most striking color in Iris. The standards are soft old rose, flushed bronze, and the flaring falls are deep rich velvety red, slightly flushed bronze. The exquisitely marked throat is quite prominent, owing to the open standards. A clump makes a stunning garden effect.
