From the Cornell Extension Bulletin 112: "Color effect a light lavender, prune purple veined bicolor. S. light lavender-violet reticulated violet. F. velvety prune purple, closely and distinctly veined the same on the glistening lavender outer haft, reticulated brown. Beard fine, dense, bluish, with orange tips.

This iris is of moderate growth and has stiff, slender foliage. The stalk is not tall, but is well and widely branched. The conical carriage of the tinted standards and dark spreading falls give interesting color contrats in late season. The standards may occasionally bear flecks."

From the Wing Seed Co. catalog for 1920: "S. and style arms light blue; F. deep velvety blue netted on the white at base. All divisions very broad and full. The decided contrast between the light and dark blue is very beautiful."

From Walter Stager's Tall Bearded Iris: "(neglecta) S. lavender, flecked with deeper shade; F. velvety levender, dark reflections. Very floriferous."
